Sammy's bday :-)

Just wanted to quick update cause I know y'all all don't get the emails we had a friend sending out.

Sammy was born at 9:47pm weighing 8.8 lbs and 20 inches long. He is by far the chunkiest newborn I have ever seen!! He was born still but was kind enough to answer an inquiry from Dave right before I started pushing and kept kicking/punching til the very end.

More later - we are going to enjoy a few hours with our little man.

  1. Oh, Melissa, this is so overwhelming.
I don´t find the right words...

I only wanted to tell you, that I think about you and your family.

I go to Israel for a pilgrimage tomorrow. In prayers, I will take my unborn niece Valentina there. But I promise you, at one point, I will say a prayer for sweet Sammy and his family (and also for little Rachel and family).

    God bless you,
Lolo (auntie from Valentina in Berlin, Germany)

  3. Thanks for posting. I am also looking forward to hearing more... but only whenever you get a chance and need to get it out on "paper" as I imagine you will. You guys are so loved and prayed for... but I know you know that already.

  4. I have checked this like eight times in the last several hours....just hoping to see more. I hope you are doing well. I love hearing how chunky he was!!! I want to hear all about it, if you want to talk (later). I am realizing, after about four weeks ( I will be there on Monday!), it is sad when noone asks anymore. So I'm here to ask...whenever you need to tell the story :) Sammy is so precious to me, and I am so comforted to know he is with sweet Briar. Briar kicked until the end too!!!

  5. Wow!! I think that might be a world record! I've never heard of a baby with anencephaly weighing that much - what a big boy! I love chubby babies and have 3 kids who were all big like that and I didn't think it was possible for Rachel, but I have a new hope hearing about Sammy.:o) I can imagine the days to come will be very difficult. I will be praying for your family, and especially your mother's heart. He is beautiful. I can't hear more about him. Love & prayers, Stacy

  7. @ Melissa - thank you so much.
We prayed for Sammy on October 15th on our way to Jerusalem. At that time, I didn´t know yet, that it was the day of pregnancy and infant loss remeberance. My sister Iko told me afterwards. You certainly know about it. www.october15th.com
God bless you and your husband. Sammy is the one who is certainly already fully and eternally blessed, sitting next to the Lord.
